Diakassan, ACFA's Star Athlete!
Diakassan is 15 years old and one of ACFA’s star student athletes. Diakassan came from a family where there was no bread winner for the family as her father was unstable and abandoned the family. None of the children had attended school. Today, Diakassan is a rising star both at school and in Taekwando, having earned a spot with the national team.
Diakassan is a red belt in Taekwondo and a junior in the national team. She won 2 gold medals, 3 silver and 1 bronze. She is just starting in fencing but has already won 1 gold medal, 3 silver and 1 bronze. She also participated in international contests including the African Youth Games in Algeria, a part of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa where she won 1 bronze medal and a monetary prize. 54 countries participated in the games and Mali brought home 5 medals – one being the Bronze medal by Diakassan.
